What is a Psychological Assessment?
If a person is having problems at work or school, or in personal relationships with loved ones and family members, tests can help a client understand whether he or she might have issues with anger management or interpersonal skills or certain personality traits that contribute to the problem. Other tests evaluate whether clients are experiencing emotional disorders such as anxiety or depression.
The underlying cause of a person's problems isn't always apparent. For example, if a student is having trouble in school, does he or she have a reading problem such as dyslexia? An attention problem such as attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)? A difficulty with impulse control? Psychological tests and assessments allow a client to understand the nature of the problem, and to figure out the best way to go about addressing it.

Psychological Assessment Process
Intelligence assessments are used with adults in predicting a variety of cognitive disorders. They measure a variety of mental functions, such as reasoning, comprehension, and judgment.
A diagnostic assessment involves both clinical and functional evaluations in a face-to-face examination and is used to determine the severity of an individual’s specific condition.
Consultations offered by one of our clinicians can give the individual an opportunity to decide if he or she feels comfortable to proceed with therapy and if this is the best therapeutic environment for them.
