Nina Huynh, Executive Director of the Youth Program, started with the Norooz Clinic Foundation since its inception in the Fall of 2012. She comes to NCF with an extensive background in mental health, academic research, advocacy, outreach, grants, youth programs, volunteer/intern coordination, event planning, marketing, and content building. Nina started her mental health endeavor with a degree in Psychology & Anthropology from the California State University of Fullerton. She is also bilingual in Vietnamese and English, utilizing this as a tool to advocate for mental health awareness in the Vietnamese community.
Nina has played a key role in developing and expanding the Norooz Clinic Foundation to many community members in the Southern California region, helping to establish important relationships with other esteemed community partners such as the Orange County Health Care Agency, Wellness Centers, Didi Hirsch, Western Youth Services, OCAPICA, and more. She also leads the annual coordination of NCF’s Unlocking Stigma Fair, funded by the Orange County Health Care Agency. Through these events, she works with other national organizations and venues, such as University of California, Irvine, California State University, Fullerton, Irvine Spectrum, Active Minds, Send Silence Packing, Nami, and much more. Furthermore, Nina has helped NCF in building its direct services, outreach, and community advocacy programs in order to serve more Orange County communities.
Her passion for helping youths overcome societal challenges empowered her to establish a youth program called the Youth Expression Projekt and a talk show called HikeTalk through TherapyCable, NCF’s sister company. These two projects focus on open communication and freedom of expression by means of dialogue concerning mental health issues and taboo topics. Nina’s passion is to serve the community in any capacity that she can, which is why she is currently pursuing a career in law in order to combine the fruits of mental health education and legal expertise together. She hopes that by becoming an attorney, she can use her acquired skill set in law and vast experience in mental health to spread mental health awareness anywhere and everywhere.
